John Dudley Davies (born 12 August 1927) is a former Anglican Bishop of Shrewsbury. During his tenure the post changed from ''suffragan bishop'' to ''area bishop''〔Crockford's Clerical Directory 2008/2009 (100th edition)'', Church House Publishing ISBN 978-0-7151-1030-0〕 with the institution of area bishops in 1992.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.churchofengland.org/media/40670/chapter4.pdf )〕 Davies was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge.〔‘DAVIES, Rt Rev. Following that he served for many years in Southern Africa: his posts including that of ''Missionary Director'' for Empangeni and Chaplain at the University of Witwatersrand.
